Words from Rick Peterson about the class Fly Fishing has been my passion for over fifty-six years and now I’m collaborating withFish Tech Outfitters to once again share that passion in providing a Fly Fishing class.I’ve been a fly tying and fly-fishing instructor and quide for over thirty years now and it’sbeen a true pleasure having the opportunity to share my all-round passion for fly fishing.While there are a few other classes offering Fly Fishing instruction available thisparticular class covers the full gamut of Fly Fishing, including personal instruction onmastering Casting, actually presenting the fly which is paramount to success on thewater. Content of the seven-week class will address Equipment – Rods, Reels, and Lines,along with instruction on Knots, Tippets, and Leader set up, basically rod setup right tothe fly. We address in detail Entomology; life cycles of all the insects both aquatic andterrestrials all those critical in a fish’s life. Insects such as Mayflies, Caddisflies,Stoneflies, Midge, and Terrestrials. We address fishing rivers and streams, along withteaching still water fishing. We cover all of Fly Fishing’s various techniques; Dry Fly,Nymph, Streamer, Still Water, Terrestrials, and Midge fishing. Valuable time is spentteaching fish Anatomy, handling fish, Photographing fish and much much more,
Hopefully you can visualize there is a great deal of instruction packed into each of theseven weeks of the class. We focus strongly on instructing the student basic principlesof casting and helping that student, should they commit to the required practicingmaster those principles. Once mastered we move on with the student in instructingthem the specialty casts. We work hard to help each student master their casting sothey can accurately present the fly to the fish in any situation.
Our classes have an incredible personal touch, and we deliver and teach to eachstudent as much as they’ll retain with a good deal flowing over. I’ve taught this class tonumerous beginners over the years, as well as to many experienced fly fishermen andwomen. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed teaching numerous ladies over the years as well!Husbands-Wives, Fathers-Sons and Daughters, all are welcome to come and learn.
